Cable Assembly Firm Chooses Redmond Site
REDMOND, Ore. -- LMH Industries has leased space for a new cable assembly manufacturing facility in southwest Redmond, with plans to hire more than 40 people within a year, city and company officials said Tuesday.Throughout the next few months the company, which planned to begin production Tuesday, will be making a number of building improvements to accommodate manufacturing equipment in the 17,000 square foot building off SW Badger Avenue.LMH Industries plans to add 15 skilled workers to the Redmond area initially, with the intent to fill over 40 positions by the beginning of the second quarter 2012.
Immediate hiring is focused on filling cable assembly operators who solder and crimp small wire gauge as well as terminate connectors to PC boards. In addition, a range of supervisory, administrative, and logistical positions will be filled in the following months. For immediate employment opportunities, contact Teresa Bigness with the Redmond Employment Office at 541-548-8196 extension 327 for additional details. The company looked at several sites within Oregon before making the decision to locate operations in Redmond. They selected Redmond because of its favorable workforce demographics and for logistical reasons.Additionally, on a cost basis, LMH was able to make the available large location at SW Badger work within their startup budget.
“We are very excited to choose Redmond, Oregon for the location of our new manufacturing facility,” said Mike Osborn, general manager of LMH, “and we believe the people of Central Oregon will be a great fit for LMH.”The cable assembly market is a sizable one, at $100 billion worldwide. LMH will manufacture custom cable assemblies and wire harnesses geared toward both the military and medical industries.LMH will employ IPC 620A certified termination technicians to manufacture a range of products from assemblies, which are rugged enough for the military, to assemblies having the dexterity needed for the medical room.LMH serves not the end consumer, but works with a number of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for the parts they need.“We’re pleased LMH selected Redmond over other areas,” said Jon Stark, manager of Redmond Economic Development, Inc. (REDI), “and know their hiring plans will give Central Oregon a nice boost.”Stark added that REDI worked with LMH over an extended period of time with siting considerations (assisting a broker in identifying property and other logistical considerations) and accessing incentives, including the Greater Redmond Area Enterprise Zone program, which was granted Feb. 8.About LMH Industries LMH Industries is a privately-owned manufacturer whose primary focus is the production of cable assemblies and wire harnesses, custom molded products and connector manufacturing for the military and medical industries.
